Job SummaryThe School of Nursing is recognized for advancing nursing knowledge, practice and policy. Exceptional nurses begin and further their education and careers at Dalhousie University. Reporting to the Administrative Manager, the Undergraduate Program Secretary provides clerical and secretarial support to the School.

Key Responsibilities

  • As an administrative support to the School, process various forms for approval, answer routine student questions, and attend to progression issues for current students.
  • Acts as a liaison for all ongoing timetable scheduling for Undergraduate Modified Program classrooms and exams. Work with the Assistant Director, Undergraduate Studies, acting as department liaison to the Registrar’s Office, submit requests and all changes, including date/time/location, enrollment maximums and course professor changes.
  • Prepare and complete reports for both Associate and Assistant Directors, Undergraduate Studies, for review and approval for submission internally, University-at-large as well as Provincial and Federal Government bodies.
  • Make the Assistant Director, Undergraduate Studies aware of open calendar edits, forward any additions/revisions that will require submitting (new courses, pre-requisites or exclusion changes, policy changes, discontinued Nursing courses etc.). Review the academic calendar for any editing and/or errors.
  • Provide administrative support to committees and working groups; plan and oversee all Undergraduate student events and assist with preparing for Convocation and the Graduation Banquets;

Note QualificationsBusiness/Office Administration program with approximately three years’ of related work experience (or equivalent qualifications and experience) is required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook. As well as highly proficient in database development and management, strong customer service and working in banner would be considered a strong asset. Excellent communication, organization and a high level of competency in time management and multi-tasking skills are essential.
